Five O’Clock on Sunday, October 13th

The Progressive Pedal is Village Wrench's inaugural cruising progressive dinner via bicycle through a historic Greenville neighborhood. Adult guests will "ride & dine" on a casual cycling route to three Augusta Road homes for a chef-prepared course & a drink pairing.

Guests register, depart, and ride with one of three "Pedal Teams" that will raise financial support for one of three Village Wrench programs: Earn-a-Bike, 6-Cycle Youth Development, and Free Bicycle Repair. The evening will conclude with a post-ride celebration at The Burrow Restaurant with all three teams, live music, awards ceremony, and a presentation, including Village Wrench swag for the Pedal Team who raised the most money. Team will compete to raise money through the drawing explained below!

Team Earn-a-Bike

Team 6-Cycle Youth Dev’t

Team Free Bicycle Repair

Bikeless or Bike Shy? Great opportunity to purchase a bicycle from the workshop! Regardless, the route is very short; you can also walk or hop in the car escorting each pedal team.

Rain Date: Should inclement weather interfere, the Progressive Pedal will be rescheduled for the evening of Sunday, November 10.
Those who cannot participate can receive a refund.

Drawing Prizes

$20 a drawing ticket, or $100 for seven tickets!

Pedal Teams will compete to raise the most financial support for their Village Wrench program through drawing tickets.

Participants can add drawing tickets to their registration checkout. Friends can contribute to a team via the three buttons below, even if they are not participating in the ride. Every contribution counts as one entry into the drawing for a chance to win a weekend trip to Charleston or Hilton Head. The drawing will take place at the Progressive Pedal afterparty, and everyone on the Pedal Team that grosses the most tickets will win Village Wrench swag.

Event Details and FAQ

See you this Sunday!

We can’t wait to ride and dine with you at the Progressive Pedal in just a few days. Here are a few pre-event to-do’s and details.

Invite friends to join in OR participate in the Prize Drawing

We have limited space left for participants! Everyone, including those not attending, can support Village Wrench by choosing to root for your Pedal Team and purchasing drawing tickets for a weekend stay in Charleston (additional tours and attractions included) or Hilton Head. The Pedal Team that raises the most financial support for their program will win VW swag (and proud bragging rights). Select a Pedal Team to support here.

Where are we meeting?

Augusta Road Baptist Church (1823 Augusta St, Greenville, SC 29605) parking lot. You can drive over with your bicycle, or ride straight there if you live close by. Arriving before your designated Pedal Team time (5:00, 5:30, or 6:00) is encouraged!

What should I bring?

  • A Bicycle (any kind will do — beach cruisers, mountain bikes, Walmart bikes, fancy road bikes)

  • A Helmet

  • Bike lights

  • A credit card for donations, merchandise purchases, and additional drinks at The Burrow

What should I wear?

Casual, moderately active wear, like jeans, khakis, or leggings; a light jacket; and closed toe shoes. You’ll get a Progressive Pedal T-Shirt at check-in, and wearing that the night of is definitely encouraged!

I need a bike!
Drake McNeary, VW mechanic and owner of Sweet Tea Cycles, his mobile repair van, is lending six of his rental bicycles for the night. First come, first served. Email vw@millcommunity.org to reserve your free bicycle.
Village Wrench has an ever-changing stock of affordable, refurbished bicycles for sale. Stop by during shop hours this week (Tuesday/Thursday 1-6, Saturday 10-3).

How long is the ride?
The total route is 2.5 miles long, meandering to the yards of three private homes in Alta Vista. We will spend twenty minutes at each stop for a 3-course meal, so check in plus the ride will take about an hour and a half. There will be a car chaperone for each team should anyone need a ride.

How many people am I riding with?
The maximum number of participants in a Pedal Team is 28 people.

When does the event end?

Easy answer: 9:00

Bike Security?

We’ll have bike stands and a volunteer guarding bikes at The Burrow. Rest easy and enjoy yourself!

How do I get back to my car?

It’s an easy half-mile ride back to Augusta Road Baptist. Take a right on McPherson Lane and the third left onto Camille Ave all the way to Jones Ave. We will have crossing guards posted at McDaniel Ave from 7:30p-9:00p.

What’s the goal?

1. Have fun, ride bikes, eat great food.

2. Learn more about Village Wrench programs.

3. Financially support Village Wrench via your registration (done!), the Prize Drawing, and Fund-a-Need.
