Empowering Bike Transportation & Workforce Development

Nasiah’s family doesn’t have a car, but he wanted a job. Having spent the previous winter earning his bike through volunteer work with Village Wrench and being an active participant in our spring 6-Cycle class, his eagerness, skills, and experience made Nasiah a perfect candidate to be a Youth Apprentice in the bike shop.
However, because he lacked transportation, Nasiah hired Uber drivers to take him to and from work. The Village Wrench staff realized this was not a sustainable plan for him. After Nasiah's second shift, we worked with him to map and plan a safe, 20 minute bike commute to work utilizing the bike he had earned through volunteer work this past winter.
All summer, Nasiah has biked to and from work, always on time and ready to serve each and every customer that walks into Village Wrench. Noting his discipline and drive, Nasiah's 6-Cycle mentor expressed that he "pursued something which gave him freedom and fulfillment." Nasiah has proactively practiced bike repair, learned customer service skills, and is continuing to grow through our Youth Apprentice Workforce Development program. Thank you for providing Nasiah the opportunity to pursue freedom and fulfillment through bikes.

We are really low on bikes right now. If you have one accumulating dust in the garage, consider donating it!

We launched a pilot bike camp in partnership with PMAC. We learned about bike maintenance, repair and safety, character strengths, and did LOTS of riding through West Greenville. We are excited to expand camp sessions next summer! Thank you for supporting this exciting new program!
